Vietnam's goods exports to U.S. soar in Q1

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first quarter of 2021, the US was the largest export market of Vietnam with a turnover of 21.2 billion USD, an increase of 32.8% over the same period last year. It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, along with China and Europe (EU), the US will continue to be a potential export market of Vietnam.

According to the Department of Agricultural Products Marketing of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, despite the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Vietnam’s exports to the United States are still increasing sharply and will maintain this trend in the coming months.

Regarding the export market, in the first quarter of 2021, the United States was Vietnam’s largest export market, with exports reaching 21.2 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 32.8%, followed by China, with exports reaching 12.5 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 34.3%, and the European Union (9.6 billion U.S. dollars). ), an increase of 14.2%; ASEAN (US$6.5 billion), an increase of 3.4%; South Korea (US$5 billion), an increase of 6.4%, and Japan (US$4.9 billion), a decrease of 1.5%.

According to the Agricultural Products Processing and Market Development Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, in the first three months of 2021, Vietnam’s exports of fruits and vegetables to the United States ranked second (behind China), with an export value of US$23.4 million, accounting for Vietnam’s total exports of fruits and vegetables. The export value of Vietnamese coffee to the United States increased by 7.2%; the export value of cashew nuts to the United States accounted for 21.5%, and the export value of aquatic products reached nearly US$190 million, accounting for 18.9% of the total export of Vietnamese aquatic products, a year-on-year increase 5.4%.

Statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade show that in the first month of 2021, Vietnam’s exports of mobile phones and parts to the United States surged to US$6.1 billion, a month-on-month increase of US$1.49 billion and a year-on-year increase of US$3.4 billion.

In January 2021, Vietnam's exports of machinery, equipment, tools, and accessories to the United States reached 1.58 billion U.S. dollars, a sharp increase of 215%. In addition, the United States is the largest coffee market in Vietnam, with a market share of 7.2%. Vietnam's cashew nut exports to the United States accounted for 25.1% of Vietnam's cashew nut exports.
