The Haiphong port manager of Vietnam said that with the achievements of the Haiphong seaport sector in 2021 and the four ports (Ports 3 and 4 of Haiphong Port and Ports 5 and 6 of Hateco Group Joint Stock Company) in 2022, they will be established in Haiphong International port construction, Haiphong Port strives to achieve a cargo throughput of 100 million tons in 2022.
Nguyen Thanh Dinh, general manager of Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), said that Hai Phong Port is the investor of Ports 3 and 4, with a total investment of nearly VND 7 trillion. If construction starts in the first quarter of 2022, Port 4 of the project will be completed by June 2024, with the entire project completed in 2025. Nguyen Xiangying, general manager of Hai Phong Port, said: "In 2021, Hai Phong Port has exceeded its production and operation targets. Among them, the cargo throughput exceeded 38 million tons, an increase of 7.6%, and the consolidated revenue exceeded VND 2.4 trillion, an increase of 10% over the previous year. In 2022, Haiphong Port strives to achieve a growth target of 5-7%.” A representative of the Vietnam Navigation Administration stated that 2021 is the first year that Haiphong seaport's cargo throughput will reach more than 90 million tons. One of the main reasons is that many new shipping routes have been formed in various ports. In 2021, Hai Phong Port alone will open two new shipping routes connecting Hai Phong with China, Malaysia and India, bringing the total number of shipping routes connecting the port to 17.
